Sometimes we have dreams, but we’re not able to fulfill them. What is happening?
The problem might be with the balance of actions. What is it?
By balance, I mean balance between effort and surrendering to circumstances.
For example, your dream is to fly. If you start flapping your hands as quickly as birds do – it will do no good. This is an effort, too much effort. You must surrender to circumstances: you shouldn’t flap – learn to be a pilot or buy a plane ticket. This is how impossible made possible.
Or you dream to become a writer and you wait until someone will read your blog and invite you to write a book. This is surrendering, too much surrendering. You must do something – write a damn book, give it to read to somebody.
You can’t change the laws of physics or biology. Accept it. Learn how to deal with it. Make use of these laws, do not contradict them.
Some laws of psychology and economy do exist, but still underresearched, not well understood. It’s not about obeying them – it’s like physics, you don’t need to obey, you just accept them.
By balance, I mean balance between dreams and reality.
I am an early bird. I decided to get up at 3 am each morning. But what the reality I faced? I should go to sleep early, very early, that means I must forget to meet with friends and many other activities usually happening at evenings. The benefits of being so cool and getting up so early were outweighed by costs of being isolated from the outside world. So I found a balance – I’m getting up at 5 to 6 am.
You live in a society where some rules and patterns prevail. You can ignore and break the rules and the patterns, but then you should accept the outcome. Make use of the rules and patterns, break, but do not ignore them.
By balance, I mean balance between giving and taking.
If you work too much, you will have much money, but no time to spend them. Also, your health will suffer. You will become unhappy. You are only giving, that’s not a balance.
If you spend too much, you will have no money, empty accounts usually have nothing to do with happiness. You are only taking, that’s not a balance.
Balance is like breathing. You inhale and then exhale. You cannot inhale too much without exhaling. And you cannot just exhale, you need to inhale sometimes.
Each time when you want something, think: what can I give for it? That is the balance.
Big dreams will need big contributions, small dreams need small contributions.
